The temple is open only two days a week

Siruvachchur Madurakaliamman Temple

8 km to Perambalur on the Trichy-Chennai National Highway in the Perambalur district. Siruvachchur is ahead. Here Madurakaliamman is a blessing towards the north.

The oldest scripture in the Vedas is the Rig Veda. In the Rig Veda, there is a reference to the goddess 'Aditi'. Aditi is said to be the mother of the gods. Siruvachchur is a wonderful place where Mother Kali comes to a village as a guest, graces the town, and blesses the temple there. Madurakaliamman is the one who blesses the temple here.

There are no deities other than Ganesha inside this temple. The main remedy here is mango. It is the belief of the devotees that the intention to worship by lighting a mango tree will be fulfilled. But like other temples, mangoes are not allowed here. Take the rice and knead it in the flour and prepare the dough there. The first Deeparadhana, which takes place during the puja, is shown towards the Celliyamman freezing hill. Then it will be shown to Madurakaliamman.

Mother, four feet high here, is blessing towards the north. She carries the Idukki, the affection, the scepter, and the utensil in her hands. She folds the left thiruvati and sits on the right thiruvati with the lion. It is said that Adisankar became thirsty when he came through this area and then Madurakaliamman appeared with this form and made a theertham there.

It is said that the mother became an idol with that form and that the idol was consecrated here by Adisankar. It is also said that Sathasiva Brahmendra dedicated a Sri Chakra at this place. Opening two days a week, this shrine is the only place where the peak puja is held. During the puja, two Kodangis come out of the sanctum sanctorum and sing the story of Madurakali and Celliyamman. Deeparadhana is usually held only after they have finished singing.

Cholai Muthiah Temple is located directly north of the Madurakaliamman Temple. He is the guardian deity of Celliyamman and Madurakaliamman. Agora Veerapathir is standing near him.

Every year on the new moon day of the month of Chittirai, the plastering ceremony for Madurakali begins and then the Kappuk Katti festival for the mother. On Tuesday evening, the 8th day of the festival, all the Suttuppattu Sanas gather at the foot of the Great Sami Temple. Special pooja will be held that night and a procession will be held the next morning. Hill temple pujas will be completed as well. On Wednesday, devotees will hold a Pongal at the entrance of Madurakali and pay their dues. There will be a procession of deities including Celliyamman, Periyasamy, and Madurakali on Thursday and a swing festival on Friday. That year’s festival concludes with the Yellow Water on Saturday.

Devotees say that all incurable diseases can be cured by offering mangoes here and praying to the Goddess. Prohibition of marriage and infertility will soon get rid of the flaws of worshiping the Goddess. Devotees pray here and there, hoping that the lost items will be returned and that the losses incurred in the business will be converted into profits.
