Do you know about the three daughters of Shiva?
Shiva is known to have 3 sons, Ganesha, Karthikeyan, and Iyappan, but he also has three daughters,
Everyone knew that Lord Shiva had three sons, Ganesan, Murugan, and Iyappan. Has been worshiped in many places. But not much is said about his three daughters. Let's see here about the three daughters of Lord Shiva ...
The trinity of Hinduism is Brahma, the god of creation, the god of protection, Maha Vishnu, and the god of destruction, Shiva. Lord Shiva, who is hereditary, not only destroys but also saves the people and punishes them for their wrongdoings.
We know very little about heredity. Everyone knew that he had three sons, Ganesha, Murugapperuman, and Ayyappan. But he has three daughters and not much is said about their specialty.
Three daughters:
1. Ashoka Sundari
2. Torch
3. Vasuki
Lord Shiva has three daughters.
Ashoka Sundari:
In the Padma Purana about Ashoka Sundari, Ashoka Sundari is described as the daughter of Shiva and Parvati.
It is also said that Ashoka was married to Sundari Nagusan and they had a child named 'Yayadi'.
It is said that Ashoka Sundari got her name because she was a beautiful woman (Sundari) who was born to remove the sadness of Umayyad who longed for a baby girl.
Ashoka Sundari is also said to be the deity of Kali. Kali Devi (Ashoka Sundari) is said to be the daughter of Lord Shiva in the songs sung by the Upper Swamis and Nambiandar Nambi.
At the same time, it is still customary in Kerala to see Kali as Shivaratri.
Salt to taste:
It is said that when Lord Shiva beheaded Ganesha, Ashoka Sundari disappeared in a sack full of salt in fear so that Ashoka Sundari's deity turned into a divine salt taste.
He is widely known and revered in Gujarat. But not so well known in other parts of India.
Torch:
The torch is light. He is known by his name. Two stories are told after the birth of the torch.
In the first story, it is said that Jyoti was born from the light circle of Lord Shiva and he is the body worship of Lord Shiva. Another story is said to have been born from a torch emanating from the forehead of Goddess Parvati.
This torch is worshiped as Jwalamukhi in many temples in Tamil Nadu.
Vasuki is the snake deity worshiped in all the temples. She was the daughter of Lord Shiva, but not the daughter of Goddess Parvati.
Vasuki is said to have been born because the living atoms of Lord Shiva fell on the idol carved by Kadru, the god of snakes.
It was Vasuki who freed Lord Shiva from the poison of time when he drank it. Vasuki is also known as Manasa.
Due to his extreme anger, he was rejected by Lord Shiva. He is worshiped in the form of a snake in West Bengal.
